MAGS 300

The Mags 300, with its 299 km and 8000 metres of positive altitude difference, is the longest route connecting our Adriatic Sea to the Gran Sasso d’Italia. It passes through ancient villages, spectacular valleys, beech forests, pristine plateaus and colourful hills. Through the roads of the Mags 300 you can discover, art, history and traditions in a single bike trip, all on your own. Due to the characteristics of the route, which can always be travelled by walking, a mountain bike is recommended. Get involved, the Mags 300 is waiting for you.

From the center of Città Sant’Angelo, once you enter the Adriatic cycle path, you cross the protected Marine Area dominated by Torre del Cerrano. The route continues towards Pineto with the first climb of the day which leads to the village of Mutignano. You pedal towards Atri, then a descent leads to the “Oasi dei Calanchi” natural reserve. The route leads to the Municipality of Castiglione M.R. (Km 53 Mags point). You continue towards the village of Arsita and the climb of Collecerri takes you right up to Monte Camicia. Then you reach Isola del Gran Sasso (Km 88 Mags point). You descend on state road 80 and you arrive at the Locanda del Cervo (Mags point). You turn on the dam of Provvidenza and you enter Valle del Chiarino in which there’s the Rifugio Fioretti. You arrive at Valle del Vasto towards “Grotta a Male”. Then you reach Fonte Cerreto (Km 176 Mags point). From here you continue on the state road 17 bis towards Campo Imperatore. You then cross Santo Stefano di Sessanio, Rocca Calascio and Castel del Monte (Km 212 Mags point), continuing towards Campo Imperatore. You cross the Scoppaturo Canyon towards Rifugio Ricotta and, passing through Vallestrina, you reach Altopiano del Voltigno (km 244 Mags point). Then you descend towards Valle dell’Angri towards Vitello d’Oro waterfall: you arrive in the Municipality of Farindola. Then you cross the natural reserve of Lake Penne (Km 266 Mags point). Leaving Penne, in a few km you return to Città Sant’Angelo.
